The trigger has role="combobox" with aria-expanded and aria-controls; the menu is a listbox of options.

Down and Up move through options, skipping disabled ones; Home and End jump; typing a letter finds an option.

Enter or Space chooses; Escape or Tab closes and returns focus to the trigger.

The active option is exposed with aria-activedescendant, and the chosen one with aria-selected.
